Mi Patria Ecuadorian Restaurant

My husband and I have been here a few times now and we have even brought our kids, they are always very friendly and efficient! They make sure they greet you and let you know they will be right with you even when extremely busy, they get to you asap and you don't wait long to be seated and have drinks and order taken was only 3-5 mins and that was with a full house they literally only had 4-5 small tables remaining when we arrived and we arrived at the same time as another couple and they we're seated at the same time as us and order taken right after ours! We always have a great experience, and their plates are well worth the money! The kids plates also come with a large amount of food! You will not be disappointed by coming here! I highly recommend it!!!

Food is excellent, service is great. Very helpful with the menu if it's your first time there. Highly suggest the Hornada con Mote!

Love the place! Try to get here once a month! I have never had a bad experience here. The food is great and the service is always exceptional. Everything from the salsa to the dessert is awesome!!

This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants in Des Moines. I take almost every out of town guest here to eat. They have delicious food that’s well seasoned and extremely reasonably priced. If you’re looking for spice though, this is not the place for you. Usually, I’m all about spicy food and will load up any dish with as much hot sauce as I can handle. These dishes really don’t need it. They have a great flavor that stands on its own. The staff is just really, really friendly and the place is always clean. I’ve never had a disappointing meal at this restaurant. I couldn’t recommend this place more highly.

Great food at this restaurant! Rich flavors and a variety of dishes on the lunch menu. Definitely felt like I was back in South America. Got the llapingachos as an appetizer and guatita as my main dish.Service was pretty great, a little slower than desired, but good for what it was! Would recommend!

Great authentic Ecuadorian restaurant! Their lunch plates are huge. This restaurant was also on Diners Drive ins and dives. Great place!

Family tried all different meals and they were all great. The Papa Serrano can be a meal on its own. Delicious

I am an idiot. Recently stopped in for lunch with some co-workers, I had only been here once before years ago. I do remember liking it then and thought I should go here more often. Thus, I am an idiot for forgetting about this hidden gem.I had the carne asada, and my only regret was actually eating all of it for lunch. I was so stuffed, but it was so good. The steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection, it was just the slightest pink in the middle. Most places over cook the tinner cuts of beef. I cannot even describe the beans, I have nothing to compare them to, but trust me they are so good. I have never been a huge fan of plantains, but these little crispy guys go so well with the meal.I was surprised how busy they were for lunch, they are in a strip mall and easy to overlook. There was only one server, but she was fast and courteous!I don't get out much lately, but I will be adding this to the rotation.

I travel all over the country for work and try to stop at a Triple D spot in every city I'm in. I also try to have what Guy ate the time he was here. This is a great cozy place and the food and service was awesome. Never had plantains and they were delicious. Waiters were very helpful. You wouldn't think you would find this kind of authentic food in the middle of Iowa.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. Ecuadorian food might be my new favorite!Also, our server was very kind when we went a few weeks ago (when we could still eat in the restaurant). I love small restaurants like these. The food is delicious and the service is great. I highly recommend!

Absolutely loved it. I've lived here my whole life, heard great things for years, planned to come many times but it never happened until tonight. Very glad I did, I will definitely be back and I will be sure to bring friends. The Platter was amazing, the empanadas were to die for, and the fried bananas dessert was incredible. Very respectable price for all the food.If there was a complaint, I would say that the prices on the wine were "a bit off", to put it mildly. A bottle of Canyon Road White Zinfandel for $22? That's a miss for me. Mixed drinks were great though, and for a great price.

Decided to try this place and it was very good! Not busy and quiet. I got a chicken sand with fries. I like their fries better than McDonald's. Crispy outside and hot inside. I liked it!

Love this place! Huge portions at decent prices. The Arroz Con Pollo that I enjoyed nearly a month ago was so humongous and delicious (even after being reheated) that it lasted me a good 2-3 meals. On my most recent visit, I decided to try the fried tilapia dish (pictured). While it wasn’t as big as the arroz dish and thus I gobbled it up in one sitting, it was equally as delicious. I also really enjoyed the fried plantains that came with this particular dish. Definitely my current favorite way to have plantains!

It was my first time having this type of food and everyone at our table loved it. We got a wide range of items on the menu and our server went above and beyond making us feel comfortable and took his time explaining items on the menu as well as helping with suggestions. I will definitely go back when I am in the area again.

I don't know what the people rating this place 1 or 2 stars are talking about. I have been going to this place for years now and I will continue to return because the food is great. My family even went here after my sister got married at the courthouse to celebrate! Order the empanadas, you won't regret it. And don't forget to ask for the home-made salsa!

I have eaten my share of salads when dining out in this area as I am gluten free and have some additional food allergies. Not here! I was able to partake of several appetizers as well as entrees. The flan, at the end of our meal, was delicious. Spending my money locally is important to me and not getting sick when eating out is a big plus. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. We’ll go back!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The prices are extremely reasonable, portion sizes are large, the staff is very helpful, and the food is delicious. I would highly recommend.

I’ve been coming to Mi Patria for years now searching for some sazón similar to Puerto Rican cuisine and Mi Patria has not only provided me with comfort food similar to back home but also introduced me to new unique Ecuadorian flavors. The arroz con pollo and churrasco plate are delicious; their spices and flavors are always on point! Also, the staff has been fantastic every single time.

Mia Patri never disappoints! We ordered a variety of appetizers and main dishes to share. The empanadas are huge, with a flakey crust and generous filling. The pork is tender and perfectly seasoned. There was plenty for everyone to get their fill and still have leftovers.

I am OBSESSED with their ceviche! The fried banana desert is INSANE! Yum! I’ve eaten here for years now and the service, cleanliness and flavors have been exceptional.

A West Des Moines staple! Excellent food and personalized service. Family owned and operated, this restaurant takes pride in ensuring each person is treated like extended family as soon as they walk into the door.

Great food, great atmosphere and great serves! If you don't know what to order start out with their beef empanadas appetizer! You won't be disappointed!

This place is mind blowing. My mind was just blown by the coconut bananas with ice cream. Flavors are amazing. Cheers.
